Biography

Andrea Falcon is a freelance photographer and journalist based in Rome, Italy, where he was born in November 1969. He began taking pictures at 16, using the cameras he found at home. His passion for sailing photography took off in 1989 when he joined the monthly magazine Fare Vela, where he also began writing stories alongside his images—marking the start of his career as a journalist. For over two decades, until 2013, he worked exclusively with Il Giornale della Vela, while also contributing to non-sailing magazines such as L’Espresso, Album di Repubblica, No Limits, Viaggiare, Barche a Motore, Arte Navale, Buon Viaggio, Chi, TV Sorrisi e Canzoni, and Class. Through his work in sailing, he covered a wide range of events—from the Olympics to the America’s Cup—and reported from across the globe, including New Zealand, Australia, Brazil, the U.S., Barbados, Martinique, much of Europe, and parts of Africa and the Middle East. Since 2014, he has been working independently, expanding his focus beyond sailing to personal projects. Nevertheless, sailing remains a key source of inspiration. His work has appeared in both specialized and mainstream publications, including 7 (Corriere della Sera), D (la Repubblica), Riders, Undici, In Movimento, and national newspapers like La Stampa, Il Secolo XIX, and Il Messaggero.
