Jan Pehrson specializes in sailboat racing photography, particularly of the world’s most prestigious and beautiful sailing regattas. Her action photographs of the world’s fastest sailboats capture the beauty, thrill, and drama of the sport.
Jan photographs all aspects of sailing, from youth regattas to classic yachts to Grand Prix racing in the world’s most glamorous locations. As a racing sailor, youth sailing instructor, and Coast Guard licensed skipper, Jan’s familiarity with sailing and the sailing community lends an in-depth element to her prolific array of photographs and articles.
Her photos have appeared on the covers of national and international sailing magazines and in corporate advertising. She has published many sailing articles in Marin County, California, and in sailing magazines of the American South.
From 2011-2014, she spent months each summer crewing on 35 foot sailboats from Bermuda to the Caribbean, in the Arctic (Maine to Nova Scotia to Newfoundland to Greenland up the west coast to Baffin Island to Labrador), in the Aegean (Greek Islands) and in the Bahamas
Jan is based in Sausalito, California and spends winters in St. Petersburg, Florida.
