This photo was taken at dawn during the finish of the Brassfahrt 2025 regatta – a local event organized by the Lübeck Sailing Club that has quickly become iconic. Now in its 4th edition, the regatta attracts around 100 crews from Germany, Denmark, Poland, and hopefully next year, the Netherlands and Sweden. The race is sailed in double-hand and single-hand format, highlighting the skill, determination, and teamwork of the sailors. The image captures the last meters of the Akilaria 950 yacht Whiteout racing at full speed toward the finish line. I used a longer shutter speed to convey motion and the falling rain, emphasizing the unique light and mood of sailing on the Baltic Sea, which has such a different character than the Mediterranean. I bet the crew was grateful for a warm cup of coffee after a night and day of intense racing.
