Biography

I started photography at about the same time as I started sailing, in 1975. I grew up a mile from the end of RAF Fairford runway, during the Concorde days, so my subjects obviously became aviation based. I studied Visual Information Design at Sunderland where I became interested in all aspects of photography, particularly experimental composition and darkroom work. I became a keen catamaran sailor, where the lack of regular crews drove me into the arms of the single-handed classes, and particularly the fast and elegant A-Cat. My photographic work became part of my job as a freelance writer for aviation, history and modelmaking publications. Other genres have included wedding, architectural, exhibition and even some funeral work. Sailing photography just became a natural follow on, utilising my sailing knowledge to allow me to get the shots clients wanted. I travel the World in my role as Editor for the International A-Division Cat Association, providing PR, news, reports and images promoting the class.
