Rolex SailGP Championship Event 11, Geneva

Geneva, Switzerland

I had just watched another F50 sail directly into the sun and was amazed by the way its reflective surfaces caught the light from the water. When I saw the Spanish team heading in the same direction, I tried to translate what I had just seen into photography. Looking almost directly into the sun made it challenging to see, but I was able to quickly adjust my camera settings and push the exposure into extreme underexposure. This allowed me to isolate the F50 as a glowing silhouette against the intense backlight. What fascinates me most is that the image is entirely in colour, yet the strength of the backlight almost completely removes it. The result feels strangely like a moonlit scene.
