About the shot :
Vim was designed by Olin Stephens for Harold Vanderbilt and launched in 1939. Nineteen years later she was the trial horse for Columbia’s America’s Cup victory. At the 2026 12 Metre World Championship in Marstrand, more than 85 years after her launch, she was still being raced as hard as any modern yacht. On a fresh day off the Swedish west coast, she heels into a wave and throws up a wall of spray, while her Danish crew in red work the boat as one. I chose this image because it captures what I love about classic yacht racing: a legendary design, sailed with full intensity. Elegance and power in the same frame.
