ICSA Women's Team Racing National Championship

This image was taken on the first day of the 2025 College Sailing Women’s Team Race National Championship, hosted by Brown University at the Edgewood Yacht Club in Providence, RI (USA). The conditions were challenging with sustained winds measuring above 20 knots and gusts measuring above 30 knots. Indeed, afternoon racing was eventually suspended on account of the dangerous conditions. One of my favorite images is an "under the boom" shot of the skipper and crew in challenging conditions - both are hiking and it is a pretty clean shot of their faces and expressions, and this day's conditions afforded that opportunity with these Stanford sailors. In addition to maintaining control of their boat in these conditions, they have to also be mindful of the position of their other teammates as well as their opponents, as evidenced by the crew looking aft to assess positioning. At the end of that day, the Stanford University Cardinals were 8-0 and went on to win the Women’s Team Race National Championship with an impressive record of 15-1.
