The RNLI lifeboat crew from Baltimore in West Cork were competing on 'True Penance' during the Beaufort Cup series held as part of Volvo Cork Week. A total of 12 crews representing military and emergency services took part in the event which included a race to the famous Fastnet lighthouse and back to Cork Harbour.
This photography was taken on board the RNLI Baltimore lifeboat at 10.25pm as the leading boats passed the rock after sunset on a very overcast evening with barely enough light in the sky to see land.
