On the final day of racing, after a weekend defined by extremely light winds, the breeze finally picked up enough to get the boats flying. Until then, I hadn’t been able to capture the images I had envisioned. The moment the boats got on the foils, I knew the opportunity was there. I asked Gil Conde, our chase boat driver, to get us as close to the action as possible. I had a specific shot in mind: a slow-shutter image with Sugarloaf Mountain in the background, capturing both the speed of the F50 and the unmistakable setting of Rio de Janeiro. Gil put me exactly where I needed to be. From there, my challenge was to keep the camera steady enough to get the shot while our chase boat was bouncing across the water at 35 knots. It was one of those moments where preparation, teamwork and a small window of opportunity all came together.
