This was taken during the only start of the 14-15 edition of the race that take place during the late afternoon. The combination of late light, an extreme 40 knot plus wind as well as the boats still close to shore made for some incredible sea conditions close to shore. For me the satisfaction in creating this image was working in the difficult upwind sea state which normally makes it impossible to shoot this angle into the wind when the sae is lumpy.
